The Postgraduate Bursary Scheme
Small Research Grants and Conference Funding Now Available to Postgraduate Students
The Biosocial Society awards small grants to postgraduate student members of the society. Awards of up to £750 are available to help with costs associated with fieldwork or data collection. Awards of up to £250 are available towards the cost of participation in conferences. There will normally be two deadlines each year, in January and July, with one award of each type available at each round.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS FOR THE JANUARY 2008 BURSARIES WERE:
CONFERENCE GRANT awarded to Kristin Klingaman (Durham University) for a presentation on 'Maternal sleep and tiredness among women who prenatally intended to breastfeed after undergoing scheduled non-labour caesarean section delivery'.
FIELDWORK GRANT awarded Hannah Parathian (Oxford Brookes University) for 'An interdisciplinary approach to ethno-ecology: exploring human-wildlife interactions among the Tikuna Indians of Amacayacu, Colombia'.

Requirements of grant. Student must be a member of the society. To apply for membership please click on the "Apply Here" button on the left, complete the application, and return it to the BioSocial Society with your application fee. As per receipt of grant monies, recipients are required to submit a paper for publication in the society’s journal, Society, Biology and Human Affairs. Monies will be released within three months of application and within six months of dispersal students are required to submit a report on the use of the monies.
